I photographed Stephanie & Kevin's engagement session last Friday- they're from Ohio and their wedding is this Thursday in Coronado!

I was so blessed to photograph my dear friends Dave and Amanda's baby boy on the day he was born- Friday, July 24th. His name is Canden Blake, and he is so beautiful! He has hair just like his daddy, and the full beauty of his momma. Congratulations, Dave and Amanda, on your firstborn!

Here's some more from Molly and Chris' wonderful wedding!

Yes, I now have a facebook page for Acres of Hope Photography! Check it out and become a fan- you never know, I may throw in some facebook fan goodies every now and then!
Deven and I went whitewater kayaking this weekend with friends Travis, Anthony and Ben. I think we kayaked about 20 miles or so- over 2 days. It was so awesome! It's so beautiful up in the Kern area. I feel awful because I didn't take hardly ANY pictures the whole trip! I couldn't take it kayaking because it would have got wet- and that's pretty much all we were doing the whole time.
Deven and I rode a tandem inflatable kayak that was so rad. On Saturday, the first day, we took a good dump on a pretty small rapid (I think it was class II or III)- but I got so banged up! I bruised my shin bone which hurts worse than anything I've injured in awhile. My legs are all bruised from smashing into rocks after we flipped the boat. :( All that to say the river humbled us the first day, and the second day we did probably 6-8 class IV rapids- so scary but such an adrenaline rush! We dumped it another 4-5 times yesterday- but learned our lesson in keeping our legs up this time! Some of the rapids were pretty scary to swim down- but we survived. :) It's a fun sport and we hope to do it again- learn more and get better!
Oh, this picture is when Anthony and Travis took us down to Fiesta Island to practice "the roll" prior to the weekend's trip. We practiced but couldn't quite figure it out (yet). :) That's me upside down in the background.

Kayaking has a tradition for goof-ups or stupid moves on the river- it's called "the booty beer"- pretty self-explanatory- you have to drink a beer out of your wetsuit booty (hopefully yours!). We left Deven's truck at the very end of the run on the first day so that we could drive ourselves back to the top (good idea)- Deven left the keys in the truck at the top of the river (bad idea) and was required to drink a booty beer for punishment. :) Anthony had to hitch-hike a ride back to his truck and then come all the way back to rescue us.

Getting ready on the second day... that's the raft Deven and I rode (behind us). Do I look nervous??

Thanks Travis, Anthony and Ben (and Geno- our guide!) for an awesome, fun weekend!!
Deven built a beam that will hold up the house between the kitchen and living room so that we can create a window.

Here's the finished product!

Me re-painting the roof tiles- I don't know why it looks green, it's really not. I'll have to take some more pics.

I photographed EvaMarie and Steve's wedding last month at the Butcher Shop Steakhouse- they are such a fun and goofy couple- totally perfect for each other!

Hole in the roof where the AC unit goes...

Putting supplies on the roof...

We finished painting the stucco this weekend! Don't like the roof tile paint color... so we'll be re-painting that.

Here are some more from Ciel & Alan's e-session! These guys are great!
